What is the UniFi 2FA?

UniFi 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is a security feature provided by Ubiquiti for its UniFi product line, Including network devices and management software. It adds an extra layer of security to the login process by requiring a password and a second verification form.

UniFi 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) enhances security by requiring an additional verification step when logging into the UniFi Network Controller.

Setting up UniFi 2FA on your controller

  1. Enable 2FA:

    • Access Account Settings: Log in to your Ubiquiti Account and navigate to security settings.

  2. Configure Authenticator App:

    • Enable 2FA: Find the option to enable Multi-factor authentication.

    • QR Code Generation: The UniFi Controller generates a QR code once you enable 2FA.

    • Scan QR Code: Open your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy) and scan the QR code to link your UniFi account with the app.

Setting up 2FA on your UniFi location on your Beambox portal

  1. Go to the 'Locations' tab on your Beambox dashboard:

  2. Select 'Update UniFi Integration':

  3. Enable 2FA:

    • Tick the checkbox labeled '2FA':

  4. Enter 2FA Token:

    • After checking the '2FA' checkbox, an input field will appear requiring the 2FA token:

  5. Provide Integration Details:

    • Enter the following details:

      • Controller URL: The URL of your UniFi Controller.

      • Username: Your UniFi Controller username.

      • Password: Your UniFi Controller password.

      • Active 2FA Token: The current 2FA token generated by your authenticator app.

Please note: Following these steps ensures that the 2FA token for your UniFi location is updated and stored securely, maintaining the integration's security and functionality.

When would a customer need to update the 2FA token on their UniFi location?

You need to update the 2FA token on your UniFi location every time they log in to your Ubiquiti account with a new token. This update is necessary to ensure that the integration on the Beambox side works correctly and remains secure.

How long will these 2FA tokens remain valid for the integrator?

The 2FA tokens will remain valid until you log into your Ubiquiti account with a new token. Then, you must update the 2FA token on your Beambox UniFi location every time you log in to your Ubiquiti account with a new token. This update is necessary to ensure that the integration of your Beambox locations works correctly and remains secure.
