Note: While we do provide technical support and step-by-step guidance, Beambox self-install guides are generally written for IT consultants and those who are familiar with managing their own networks.

Using this step-by-step guide, you will quickly be able to create or edit an existing Ruckus wireless network with your Beambox WiFi login.

Prerequisites

Before getting started, here's a checklist of the things you will need:

  • Active Ruckus hardware to configure and test

  • Access to configure your networks through SmartZone, ZoneDirector or Unleashed

  • Familiarity with your network topology and Ruckus management

  • Your login URL, which can be found on your Beambox dashboard

For ZoneDirector please follow the below steps:

Add a RADIUS accounting server and RADIUS authentication server:

  • Log in to the ZoneDirector web interface, and go to configuration > WLANS Click the Edit link next to the WLAN you would like to configure.

  • Under Authentication Options: Method, select MAC Address Under Authentication Server, select your RADIUS Server.

  • Select the MAC Address Format according to your RADIUS server's requirements.

  • The MAC format should be like the following: AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF.

For Ruckus Unleashed please follow the below steps:

  • Create a Hotspot Service, Navigate to Admin & Services > Services > Hotspot Service.

  • In the Walled Garden section scroll down for "Walled Garden domains".

  • From the General tab, enter a name for this Hotspot service.

  • For WISPr Smart Client Support, select none.

  • Redirect URL - Find this on your Beambox dashboard.

  • Follow the below steps for the rest of the configuration.

Troubleshooting

Guests are not authorised after completing the login process and I have a RADIUS error log

Please run no encrypt-mac-ip on the Ruckus CLI. This will disable MAC address encoding, which breaks the Radius authentication.

We aren't currently aware of any configuration incompatibilities with Beambox and Ruckus. If you face any issues, we recommend replicating the exact setup described above and then observing any changes.

Get in touch with our team if you require any support diagnosing your network.
